The Disappearance of Pawan Gaire

29 year old Pawan Gaire was last known to be traveling from Nebraska to Florida in early March, 2026. His car was later found abandoned in Pensacola Beach.

Background

Gaire graduated with his PhD in Electrial Engineering from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in May 2025. In late February 2026 he had abdominal surgery.

Disappearance

On March 1, 2026, Pawan Gaire reportedly told his landlord he would be returning to his apartment in Lincoln, Nebraska in two weeks.

On March 3, 2026, his vehicle was spotted in Tennessee, then near Milton, Florida on March 11, 2026. 

On March 11, 2026, Pawan was last heard from when he spoke on the phone with his family in Nepal. He was officially reported missing to the Lincoln Police Department on March 16, 2026.

Pawan does not have a history of mental illness or drug use, but it is believed he was under stress at the time of his disappearance.

At the time of his last contact, his family says he appeared to have lost some weight and cut his hair. Loved ones say it’s completely out of character for him to be out of contact.

Investigation

On March 24, 2026, authorities searched Pawan’s apartment, but found nothing out of the ordinary.

On March 27, 2026, Pawan’s vehicle, a black 2014 Honda Civic Coupe with plate ACI 265 was found abandoned at Park East in Pensacola Beach, Florida.

All of his personal belongings were inside the vehicle, including his wallet, ID cards, money, cell phone, and laptop. No further clues as to his whereabouts have been found.

Appearance

Pawan has black hair and brown eyes. He stands 5’8 tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds.
